기술개요 Indigo UC Capsule, colon-specific releasing indigo microcapsule, which is a new treatment method targeting mucosal regeneration.
연구개발 배경 ・Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an intractable disease that repeats relapsing and remission characterized by chronic inflammation of the colon. ・Indigo naturalis (IN) is traditional Chinese medicine that contains ligands such as indigo for the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and promotes regeneration of the mucosa, has anti-inflammatory effect. ・We are the world's in multicenter double-blind randomized controlled trials to clear IN's higher efficacy and safety. In this clinical trial, we found IN to be effective in inducing clinical remission in patients with UC. ・Based on the above background, we are now developing a microcapsulated drug containing indigo, which is the main active ingredient in IN. The microcapsulated drug is designed that it is not absorbed in the small intestine but directly delivered and absorbed in colon, so that will be eliminated side effects concerned such as hepatic disorder by indigo’s absorbance through small intestine. ・This colon-specific releasing indigo microcapsule “Indigo UC Capsule”, which is a completely new treatment method targeting mucosal regeneration, can rework the UC treatment guidelines around the world as a specific drug leading to　amelioration of UC, instead of an immune antibody drugs that only suppress inflammation, which are currently the mainstream of UC treatment. ・
